Artist Statement:
I think that I have a focus on landscape and I particularly include my family in some of my pictures because it feels more intimate to have humans in my work especially when I have a personal connection with them. I enjoy capturing moments that I know are important to me and looking back on these pictures brings me back to my time there and they are also special because I know no one else can replicate them exactly how I do. I also have a focus on nature in my landscapes and especially zooming into and magnifying specific parts of nature including leaves that I think are unique and framing them in a new undiscovered way. I also like to focus on interesting lighting and I was introduced to Todd Hido this year who I have drawn some inspiration from in his techniques. I also have more abstract photos that I created to try and make the viewer have to think about what the picture is and everyone can have a distinct reaction to it because there is no concrete meaning. Another aspect of photography that I like to focus on throughout my photos is finding unique textures and I like to identify textures on smaller objects that most people do not observe. In general my photos are a way to represent myself through distinct moments in my life.
